THE ANGELS

Through four decades, Rick and John Brewster, The Angels Guitarists, co-founders and its most prolific songwriters, have seen lineups change and the bands musical style re-arrange, but through it all they’ve maintained the pure Australian rock guitar sound that’s driven The Angels most legendary songs.

With Dave Gleeson (from The Screaming Jets) upfront, The Angels have been storming rock stages around the country. They’ve even notched up a festival in Japan. Two years of blowing away new and old Angels fans at sold out show after sold out show, all the hard work has paid off. The Angels with Dave Gleeson are now widely known as the best live rock band in Australia today.

ICEHOUSE

With a career spanning over 30 years, ICEHOUSE has continued to delight millions with their music, well-known and loved by audiences across generations. ICEHOUSE has played to sellout audiences in Australia and has toured extensively. Icehouse began in 1977 as a Sydney-based pub rock band called Flowers, who were the highest paid unsigned act in Australia at the time.

In 1980 Flowers scored a record deal with Regular Records and released their first album, Icehouse, which received critical acclaim and reached multi-platinum status in Australia and New Zealand. It soon became the highest selling debut album in Australia. The iconic cover art for the album, featuring branches intertwined, was created by Flowers drummer John Lloyd, a former art student. After performing their song “Icehouse” at the Countdown Awards, the band was awarded with the Johnny O’Keefe Award for Best New Talent of 1980.

By the end of the year the group had set new sales records in this country, dominating the charts & concert scene, and became the first Australian band to make a real impact on the US touring circuit playing major concerts with Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Captain Beefheart, Little Feat, Linda Rondstat, Earth Wind & Fire, Elvin Bishop & more & releasing albums worldwide on Reprise Records.

BRIAN CADD

Axiom 1969-71 - Brian and Don had formed a strong writing partnership and after the demise of The Groop they put together what is generally considered Australia’s first supergroup: Axiom. The rest of the all-star line-up consisted of former Twilights lead singer Glenn Shorrock, Valentines drummer Doug Lavery (later replaced by Don Lebler) and Cam-Pact singer-guitarist Chris Stockley.

Much of their work exhibited the influence of The Band, whose first two albums had cast their spell on so many musicians, including George Harrison and Eric Clapton. Don and Brian co-wrote all of Axiom’s original material, including the hit singles Arkansas Grass, A Little Ray of Sunshine and My Baby's Gone, and the band recorded two very fine LPs, Fool’s Gold (Fable, 1969) and If Only (Warner-Reprise, 1971), the latter recorded in London and produced by the legendary Shel Talmy...
